The Belarusian men’s national team is preparing for the games with the national team of Great Britain

On February 25 and 28, the Belarusian men’s team will play two matches of the 2023 World Cup qualifiers against the UK team. The first meeting will take place at the court of the Minsk Sports Palace (the game starts at 19:30). The second one will be in Newcastle (22:00 Belarusian time).

After the autumn period, the Belarusian national team beat the Turks at home (84:70) and lost to the Greeks (67:77) on the road, our team, like the rest of the B group, has three points, but is leading by the best points difference.

The coaching staff, headed by Rostislav Vergun, which includes Aliaksei Sukhavetski, invited 19 basketball players to the pre-camp. It is noteworthy that 14 of them represent the Tsmoki-Minsk club system. These are guards – Uladzislau Blizniuk, Andrei Stabrouski, Maksim Karattsou, Daniil Barisevich, Roman Shcerbakov, Vadim Tretyak, forwards – Aliaksei Trastsinetski, Darol Hernandez-Zinenko, Timafei Paraleu, Kiryl Vaskautsou, Daniil Kosko, Yan Marinin, center – Vadzim Stubeda. Also invited to the training camp are Artyom Parakhovskiy (Parma, Russia), Ivan Aladko (Rusichi, Russia), Vladislav Mikulskiy (Borisfen, Belarus), Kirill Sitnik (Dynamo, Russia), Maksim Salash (San Pablo Burgos, Spain).

Games with the British are extremely important for our team, which has set itself the goal of making the way into the next stage of qualification for the 2023 World Cup. This right will be achieved by the three strongest teams from the quartet “B”.
