This weekend, Nizhny Novgorod hosted the second Khayretdinov Cup, dedicated to the founder of the BC Nizhny Novgorod. With the direct participation of Alexander Khayretdinov, the NBA club was organized in 2000, which in 2008 received a new name "Nizhny Novgorod". In February 2022, Khayretdinov was inducted into the VTB United League Hall of Fame.
This year four teams took part in the competition – MINSK, Pari Nizhny Novgorod, UNICS, and newcomers of the VTB United League BC Samara. Pairs of semi-finalists were determined by drawing lots.
In the first match on the floor of the Sport Palace “Nagorny” with “Pari Nizhny Novgorod” Minsk residents lost to the owners of the site with the score 49:83 (14:25, 9:19, 7:21, 19:18).
The most productive: Uladzislau Blizniuk – 17 + 1 REB + 3 AST + 1 STL, Aliaksei Trastsinetski – 10 + 1 REB + 3 AST + 1 STL, Zach Smith – 9 + 10 REB + 2 AST + 1 STL + 3 block.
On September 11, Minsk and Kazan UNICS met in the fight for third place on the floor, which lost to Samara in the semifinal match with a score of 71:78. In the final match of the 2022 Cup, Minsk residents could not defeat the opponent, the final score was 51:63.
The most productive: Zach Smith – 16 + 12 REB + 1 AST + 1 STL + 1 block, Uladzislau Blizniuk - 9 + 2 REB + 4 AST + 1 STL.
As a result of the tournament, the prizes were distributed as follows:
1st place - "Pari Nizhny Novgorod"
2nd place - "Samara"
3rd place - UNICS
MINSK will play a preseason game with Nizhny Novgorod tomorrow in preparation for the season, the match starts at 01:00 PM
