We concede to Samara

Today, Minsk residents in Samara played the first match of the second stage of the VTB United League against the team of the same name. On the guest site, MINSK lost to the hosts with a score 71:79 (17:17, 18:21, 13:25, 23:16).

Starting five:

MINSK: Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson, Grigorii Motovilov, Vadzim Stubeda, Uladzislau Mikulski, Jakob Cebasek.

Samara: Nikola Rebic, James Thompson, Ilya Platonov, Javonteh Hawkins, Rade Zagorats.

The course of the game

Despite the fact that in the first minutes of the opening quarter our team could not adjust to the opponent's ring and make a number of hits, closer to its completion the Minsk residents leveled the pace of the game. Jarred Ogungbemi-Jackson and twice Jakob Cebasek designed the exact “three-points”. On the first break, the opponents left with a score of 17:17.

In the second quarter, Minsk residents joined the fight more actively, but offensive misses and fouls led to a slight lag from Samara by the big break (38:35). Unfortunately, in the third quarter, a number of mistakes by Minsk residents allowed Drazen Anzulovic's wards to strengthen their leading position on the court.

Interchange

The active struggle of Minsk residents both defensively and offensively in the final 10 minutes of the match did not allow the Samaritans to relax and play with a comfortable advantage in the score. Minsk residents made 5 accurate shots from behind the arc, three of which were made by Jakob Cebasek. Unfortunately, in the end, our team failed to take away the victory from Samara. The final score is 79:71.

Assistant coach of MINSK Aliaksei Sukhavetski: “Given our difficult situation and the large number of injured, the difficult road that we got here – we were a real team, we did a lot. Thanks to the guys for coming together. Many people only slept for a few hours today, and I am grateful for their efforts. There were some unforced losses somewhere, and we were a little short of these attacks. We need to learn how to play in the end, even fights, so that we can take the game for ourselves.”

Minsk residents will play the next game at home and on February 13 at the Minsk Arena they will play against Uralmash. The match starts at 17:30. Tickets can be purchased on the website and at points of sale kvitki.by , as well as in the lobby of the arena on the day of the game from 16:30. Let's support MINSK together!
